A quick watercolor sketch of regional flags mounted on the side of an old fortress in the countryside during a Viking river cruise through Eastern Europe.
The artist sketched various parts of this scene at Olepolis, south of the Ngong Hills on the edge of the Rift Valley about 20-30 miles from Nairobi. The final painting was rendered later.

The Citadel near Cap Haitian in the northern part of the country was built by Haitian King Christophe after the Revolution as part of the anti-European fortifications. Other fortresses from the late 1700s to the early 1800s are found on various mountain peaks and coastal cliffs in various parts of the island.
