Vagabond Artist Images of Haiti–The Citadel
The Citadel near Cap Haitian in the northern part of the country was built by Haitian King Christophe after the Revolution as part of the anti-European fortifications. Other fortresses from the late 1700s to the early 1800s are found on various mountain peaks and coastal cliffs in various parts of the island. The painting was from a photo taken from the air in a Cessna 172 piloted by Phil Kernisian. (Collection of P-L Kernisian)
